Information:

Michael was born c.1877 in Ballybroughan, Tulsk, Strokestown; county name given as Longford, but is in Co. Roscommon. Michael appears to have enlisted with the 4th Connaught Rangers in 1893 but was dismissed as he mis-stated his age as being older than he actually was.

Michael later moved to England and enlisted for service in Bootle with the 16th South Lancs. Both the 15th and 16th Battalions were territorial battalions formed at Bebington and Prescot in December 1916 and April 1917 respectively,. They were tasked to work in Mersey docks. Michael died in Liverpool of illness, seemingly a fever and is buried at Anfield Cemetery.

Parents Names: Son of Thomas Kearns, Ballybroughan, Tulsk, Co. Roscommon.
Notes: *Unpublished from the main inventory, as it appears that Michael was from Roscommon, not Longford, with Longford being recorded as a result of address conventions at the time.
