Information: | John was born in St. Mel's Road on or around the 3 May 1900. He was the eldest boy in the family. His father, John, was the town schools attendance inspector. Little is known, to date, about John's life and service as it does not appear that his army file survives. He likely enlisted shortly after his 19th birthday, in 1919. He tragically died some months later in Cosham, Hampshire likely after being struck by a train. |
