| Information: | St Vincent was born in Clontarf on the 2 Nov 1895 to his Cape Colony (South Africa)-born parents, Charles HW Hammick and his wife Alice Williams. Charles was a teacher of mathematics and a Reverend in the Holy Orders (Church of Ireland); he was the Rector of Duleek by 1917. St Vincent later lived with his uncle and aunt, Rev Morgan Hammick in Ardagh, Co. Longford prior to studying at Trinity College Dublin.
During his time at Trinity, was St Vincent was part of the Motor Transport Section of TCD Officer Training Corps, and subsequently held a munitions appointment before he entered the Royal Miltiary Academy at Sandhurst. He unfortunately became ill likely with cerebral meningitis (newspaper reports stated measles) during his time at Sandhurst and died as a result of the infection. |
