Christopher was also known as Christy. He was born in Longford town on or around the 11 March 1882. By the age of 16 Christy was living and working for the Lee family in Soran, north County Longford. 

Christopher married Mary Kate Morgan of Ballyhoolivan on the 16 January 1912, and they went on to have at least three children: Mary Margaret, James Christopher and Kathleen, but sadly James died at only 25 days of age. 

Christopher served initially with the 4th Leinster Regiment during World War 1, before being transferred to the Labour Corps. His pension records note that he contracted malaria, attributed to his service. After the Christopher was discharged in May 1919, he returned to Longford, and worked as a cattle herder and labourer.

Christy Dalton died in the County Home in Longford town on the 13 April 1938, as a result of malaria, endocarditis and heart failure. The malaria was attributed to his military service.
