Luke Loftus Bushe-Fox, better known as Luke, was born on or about the 31 Aug 1822, at Cordara House, (now demolished). He was the son of Michael Charles Fox (c.1792 - 1824) and Catherine Bushe. Luke was educated at Christchurch College, Oxford graduating in 1844 and was admitted to the Kings Inns as barrister.  By 1847, he was a Justice of the Peace and a member of the short-lived Irish Council

Luke was appointed Captain of the Longford Militia in 1856, later promoted to Major, and was the High Sherrif of County Longford in 1865.

Luke married Mary Anne (better known as Marian) Browne in Hampstead, Middlesex on the 27 April 1859;They had a number of children together, including Joscelyn Plunkett Bushe-Fox, an archaeologist who became Britain's Chief Inspector of Ancient Monuments. The family spent time in Hampstead and in Ireland; their daughters, Charlotte Lillian (b.1870) and Mary Mabel (1872) were born on Silchester Terrace, Battery Road, Longford. By the 1880s Bushe-Fox was on a number of social committees and boards, including the National Dwellings Society

By time time of the 1891 Census Luke was staying with his nephew in Notting Hill, where he died on the 11 Feb 1892.

Parents Names: Son of Michael Charles Fox and Catherine (née Bushe) Cordara House, New Park, Lanesborough.
Notes: *Marian's father's name was given as Benjamin Browne, and his occupation was listed as 'Gentleman', indicating that he received an income from an estate. **Marian and most of her children were staying with her father in Hampstead on the night of the 1891 census.
