George was born 23 October 1883* in Co. Longford and later immigrated to Canada, where he worked as a transfer agent in the Royal Mail Service

Cpl Jones enlisted with the COEF in Ontario in February 1916, but died that year in what was recorded as being appendicitis. His brother James served in the same unit during the war.

Parents Names: Son of James and Annie Jones of Cloonrallagh, Co. Longford
Notes: *This is the date of birth given on his attestation paper, however his birth was submitted to the Civil Register in 1881, suggesting that he was two years older than he claimed.
