| Information: | Francis was born 1882 in Granard. L-Cpl Kelly enlisted in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath and entered the war in France in December 1914.Francis was likely a reservist and was called up not long after the declaration of war. It is likely that he was fatally wounded during a tour in the trenches at Dickebush (modern Dikkebus) between the 9 and 11 February; during this period a 2nd Lieutenant and three other men from the 1st Leinsters were killed and ten were wounded. |
