Information: | Thomas was born c.1876 in Portadown, Co. Down. He was a brother of John McCullagh a nail-maker, living in Killashee Street, Longford. Pte. McCullagh enlisted in the Royal Irish Fusiliers in Co. Antrim. McCullagh killed in action at Gallipoli, likely at Happy Valley Green Hill, the 6th were in fire trenches between the 6 and 17 September. Here they were subjected to sniping from the Turkish lines, with some casualties, including 2 deaths (likely including McCullagh) between the 6 and 11 September. |

Notes: | The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has Private McCullagh's regimental number as 11247, although it appears that 12247 is accurate. John McCullagh appears to have been born in Co. Cavan, although the 1911 Census suggests that he and his wife were from Longford. His two children, Pte. McCullagh's niece and nephew were born in Longford. |
