Information: | Patrick, also known as Michael, was born in St. John's Parish in Galway; he had at least two brothers Roderick and Patrick. Pte O'Connor enlisted in Longford. |
Parents Names: | Son of Mary Ann O'Connor. |
Notes: | A family fitting the description of Patrick/Michael's was resident in Swinford Workhouse, Co. Mayo, in 1901, and giving a suggested birth year of 1894/1895. The father of the family was called Patrick. However, there is no parish called St. John's in Co. Galway, suggesting that he was instead born in Sligo, and possibly his father was from Galway; there is a Roderick O'Connor from Sligo, who served with the Connaught Rangers and Royal Irish Fusiliers, and has similar family details to Patrick/Michael. |
