Information: | Edward was born on 9 October 1894*, in Co. Longford, and moved to the US in April 1914 on the RMS Cedric. He became a naturalised citizen on the 2 May 1918 in Tacoma, Washington. There he eventually moved to California, and began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, in September 1915 and was based in their Sacramento Shop. Edward's other brothers John, Felix and James** also lived in California. Two of his brothers also served in the US Army during WW1: James was based in Camp Kearney in San Diego and John was based in Camp Lewis, Washington State. He enlisted in the army in April 1918 in Sacramento, athough he was based in Washington by May 1918. He travelled to the front on the SS Ortega on 31 August 1918, but was killed in action in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Edward's brothers James and John also served in the Great War. |
