Owen was born c.1889 in Co. Longford, the son of a blacksmith.

Pte Cahill enlisted in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. He died of wounds on 10 April 1918 aged 28/31 years*. In his will written in February 1917, (link below), he named his mother Catherine as his next-of-kin.

Parents Names: Son of Michael and Catherine Cahill of Tenelick, Colehill, Co. Longford.
Notes: *The 1901 census gives an estimated birth year of c.1887, whilst the 1911 census suggests he was born c.1891. No Civil Registration of Birth matching Owen's details has been found.
