| Information: | Charles was born on or around the 21 Apr 1900 near Ballymahon, Co. Longford and was the youngest of 6 children; Charles's father was listed as being a tin smith on his birth record. Charles worked as a blacksmith's assistant prior to enslisting in April 1917. However, he was discharged by September 1917 as he mis-stated his age on his attestment (was still 16 rather than 18). Charles's elder brother Thomas Robert Casey served in WW1 with the Royal Field Artillery. |
