| Information: | William served in the Boer War (1899-1902). He re-enlisted, joining the Connaught Rangers in Galway on 27 July 1909. He served in India from 5 January 1911 to 28 August 1914. He was part of the Indian Expeditionary Force that arrived in France thereafter. William was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps on 2 September 1916. He was transferred 'home' on 11 May 1919 and was discharged on 30 May. He was judged to have had a 20% health impairment at the time he left the army. William re-joined the Connaught Rangers on 14 November 1919 (no. 7144182). He died in Dover in 1937. His brother Thomas also served in the First World War. |
