Christopher was born in 1884 at Drumanure, Abbeyshrule. He joined the army in 1915 and was on active service from 18 December that year. Nugent was wounded while serving in France in mid-1916 and was later transferred to the Labour Corps as a result. Finally, he served in the Transport Corps of the Royal Engineers. Christopher died in 1964. He was one of four brothers who served in the war, the others being John (killed in action), Denis and Peter.
