Information: | Thomas was born in c.1876; it is believed he was born in Co. Longford. He worked as a groom prior to WW1. Thomas enlisted with the Royal Army Service Corps at Lathom Park, Lancashire on 1 March 1915. He was sent into active service in France on 1 April 1915 and later passed as competent to shoe horses. Thomas remained in France until 24 May 1919. Despite having a number of medical conditions, aggravated by military service, he was transferred to class Z reserves on 23 June 1919. He received the 1914/15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. After WW1 Thomas returned to Ireland and was living off Thomas Street in Dublin. Little more is known about Thomas's life after WW1. |
