According to Michael's attestment, he was born c. 1886 in Rhyne, Killoe - however one of his Army records suggests that he was born c.1878. , it is believed that he was born He enlisted in Longford in 1916. Johanna/ Johanaugh Gelnagh, his aunt was given as next-of-kin. He primarily served in Athlone during the WW1 period.
