Albert Elliot was born in Carrick-on-Shannon on the 11 June 1882, although on his attestment he stated that he was born in Longford on the 11 June 1884. His father, Thomas, was working as a warder with the Prison Service at the time. By 1887, his father had retired and the family were living in Abbeycartron, where his younger brother, Herbert, was born. 

The family emigrated to the US c.1900, with Albert's parents and brothers, Herbert and Frederick recorded in Prior to the war Albert was working as a teamster. Albert's elder sister Frances (Fannie) Morrison of Navan, Ontario, was listed as his next-of-kin on his attestation in 1916.

Notes: Fannie sadly passed away in December 1916 after an illness.
