Information: | John Edward Thompson was born 20 April 1888* in Longford town. He was the son of John and Isalbella who were shopkeepers and stationers in 1901; by 1911 Isabella had passed away and John Sr was working as a mason. John Edward was one of four children; he and William were both harness-makers. Prior to enlistment with the COEF Thompson was working as a saddler. Pte Thompson enlisted at Calgary in September 1915. |
