Information: | Andrew James was born in Blue Yard, Longford on or around 7 Nov 1888; his father, also called Andrew was in the USA at the time. Andrew J later also emigrated to New York. According to his WW1 Draft card, he was working for the Central New York Rail Road in 1917. Andrew enlisted on the 7 Jul 1917. He served overseas from the 17 May 1918 to 6 Mar 1919, and was present at Siegfried, Vierstaat Ridge, Mount Kemmel and Dickebusch. He was wounded in action on the 14 Oct 1918, but was not seriously injured. Andrew was awarded a Purple Heart. |
