Information: | Eugene was born in Co. Longford July 1883* He emigrated to the US on c.26 Apr 1906 on the RMS Baltic. Also in New York was his brother Thomas, who died in April 1918 in Brooklyn, NYC. At this time Eugene was working as a conductor for the Brooklyn Rapid Transit, according to his WW1 Draft record. Eugene was inducted into the National Army in July 1918 and was stationed in Hoboken, New Jersey until August 1919, when he was demobbed. He appears to have remained in New York, as the 1942 so-called 'Old Man's Draft' had him living in Brooklyn and working for Frederick Loeser & Co department store, likely as an elevator operator. Eugene died in New York in June 1963 and he is buried with his brother, Thomas. |
