Information: | Denis was born c.1872 in Killashee. He married Elizabeth Sharkey in February 1901 in Newtownforbes - he was living in Sharavogue at the time. Denis reenlisted for war service in Longford with the 3rd Connaught Rangers in October 1914, becoming a Lance Corporal that November. He transferred to the Royal Irish Regiment in August 1915, and entered WW1 in September 1915, rising to the rank of Acting Sergeant in July 1916. Denis was transferred to the Royal Irish Regiment's 2nd Infantry Labour Company (later the 183rd Labour Corps) and was made a Sergeant in that regiment prior to his demob in June 1919.
