Information: | Richard was born c.7 April 1882* in Longford. He enlisted in the US Army in November 1917 and was based out of Fort Slocum serving initially with the 54th Artillery until November 1918, when he transferred to the 53rd Artillery. Pte Connolly served overseas between the 16 March 1918 in the Lorraine Sector (Alsace), and was invalided to the to March 1919, until his discharge later that month. He travelled to the front on the "Baltic". |

Notes: | The Abstract gives his year of birth as 1880, although the record of service data gives an 1882 date of birth. There are some correlations between this Richard Connolly and another of similar age who enlisted with the Durham Light Infantry of the British Army in 1914, but was discharged on medical grounds. |
