Information:	Thomas Dowler was born in Carrickboy, c. March 1893. Prior to the war, Thomas worked as a groom. Pte Dowler enlisted with the Connaught Rangers in February 1893, allegedly one month shy of his 20th birthday*. Prior to that he was with the 4th Special Reserve. Dowler absented himself from the army at Renmore, Galway in April 1893.

Notes:	*No civil record for the a birth for Thomas Dowler exists in Co Longford for 1875, however there is a birth at Knockagh, near Carrickboy, for January 1878, the son of a William Dowler and Mary (née Kenny).
