Information: | Haidee Emily Rose was born Elizabeth Haidee Rose Dopping-Hepenstal c.1862, daughter Ralph Dopping of Derrycassan and Margaret the daughter of Rev Lambert Watson Hepenstal of Altadore, Co. Wicklow (the family name became Dopping-Hepenstal after this marriage). During WW1, Haidee served with the Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) with the Westmeath commission from November 1917 to April 1918. She mainly carried out housework and attending patients. Haidee resided at Erne Head, a house on the Dring shore of Lough Gowna, directly opposite Inch Island. Haidee passed away as a result of broncho-pneumonia in February 1947. |
