Information:

Michael was born 28 April 1889 in Tenalough, Legan. He married his wife Ellen Nolan c.1908 and they went on to have four children together. 

Pte Dowler died likely as a result of shelling near Guillemont near the Somme, and his presumed date of death was on or after the 10 December 1916.

Michael's brother, Pte John Dowler also of the 1st Irish Guards, died of his wounds almost a year later in 1917.

In 2016, as part of Outtake Community Media's TV to Remember course, Michael's great-granddaughter, Evelyn, dedicates her piece Letters Home to Michael and his widow with an imagined letter home.
